Examples of Field Data Collection Tools

Interactive tools for field data collection provide the quickest and most effective solution for moving data from the field to the office IMS. Tools are customized for the specific application, ensuring that data will enter the IMS without requiring additional handling or transcription.

The current suite of tools that we have developed include digital forms to collect groundwater elevation data, chemical sample data, and boring log data. We will demonstrate the digital form for collecting boring information and generating boring logs.

The following form is an example of the groundwater elevation data form as viewed on a Newton hand-held computer. Since the forms are generated in industry standard HTML (hyper text markup language), they can be used with any Netscape Navigator 2.0 compliant WWW browser.
