The History of Life on earth falls within the realms of geology and biology. The biologic processes of life are recorded in the rocks through geologic processes. To understand the history of life, this course starts by looking at the fossil record and the geologic and biologic processes involved in its formation. Early in the course, we examine the fossil record, first focusing on how it formed, then on the geologic and biologic principles that allow its interpretation.
