News:

At the start of the week, we released the formObjects suite for Frontier. I decided to deal with security issues with the diskBrowser CGI by saying that anyone who downloads or uses the suite agrees that I am not liable for any loss or damages caused by its use. Just to be a little safer, I removed the code that allowed people to edit files. You can download the suite from the formObjects page.

The big news of the week was the release of the Frontier Publishing suite. This suite of scripts will be invaluable in ES Designs' efforts to build collaborative editing tools. The Publishing suite allows authorized users to upload text files via email or FTP. These files are automatically rendered into HTML and uploaded onto a web server. I am in the process of putting together a working example of the suite on the ES Designs test server. Check the Links Elsewhere page for an active link to the test page.

By following the instructions on the test page, you can submit an email document and then view it on the site. I am still working on a few things with the example, namely I need to make sure that all pages and subsequent links are generated when a new page is added. Once I get this example up and running, I plan to add onto it by adding editing tools and possibly the ability to add images and text through ftp.

I am still avoiding updating the webGIS tools. The more I look at this, the more I realize that it needs a complete rewrite to improve it. This is good news in that it means that I can simplify and improve the program significantly. The development of webScheduler, formObjects and other tools has significantly improved my ability to build CGI applications in Frontier. I apologize to anyone who has tried to look at the webGIS demo and run into problems. Things will improve shortly.

Thanks for checking out the site. I will be looking to improve the flow of the site in the future. If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know.
